Use of Primarin Pills

Premarin is a patented drug made up of conjugated estrogens obtained from the urine of pregnant mares (PREgnant MARes' urINE, or PMU). Premarin is a mixture of over ten different estrogens - including estrone (which we make in our own bodies), and equilin and equilenin (horse estrogen - which, of course, we don’t make in our own bodies). In fact, the name Premarin comes from "pregnant mare’s urine". . . which is its source. Because it comes from horse urine, the pharmaceutical company that makes Premarin (Wyeth-Ayerst Laboratories) considers it a natural estrogen. They are technically right; after all, horse urine is definitely natural! But by most standard definitions of natural as it applies to HRT, Premarin isn’t considered one of the "naturals" since isn’t identical to the estrogen we produce in our own bodies.

Premarin was first marketed for menopause in 1942. By 1972, Premarin tablets were certified by the FDA as effective for treating menopause, and in 1986, based on studies conducted by Wyeth, the FDA approved Premarin for treatment of osteoporosis.

Premarin is used for cure symptoms of menopause. It is used to prevent osteoporosis (weak bones) after menopause to some patients. Treat low estrogen levels, breast cancer or prostate cancer. Some people have a bias against Premarin because of its source, but, in all fairness, because conjugated estrogen is similar to our own estrogen, Premarin has been shown to eliminate the symptoms of menopause, to prevent bone loss and appears to protect against cardiovascular disease.

Menopause occurs for most women between the ages of 45 and 55 however, it can occur at an earlier or later age. Menopause is when your body stops producing estrogen, the menstrual cycle ceases and fertility ends. Menopause is a normal process that occurs in every female and it is something which every female will face at some point in her life.

There are three different types of menopause in women: Natural menopause, Medical or surgical menopause, Cold turkey menopause.

Menopause affects everyone differently. There are some symptoms that are shared by a vast majority of the women going through menopause but that doesn’t mean that you will experience all or any of these symptoms: Mood swings and anxiety , Irritability, Memory loss and concentration issues, Depression.

The physical menopause symptoms include:

HOT FLASH is a sudden and overwhelming feeling of intense heat which spreads from head to toe. Hot flashes can occur several times each day or only occasionally.

INSOMNIA - sometimes linked to hot flashes.

FATIGUE - often linked to insomnia.

WEIGHT GAIN - Often one of the first signs of menopause that women notice, weight gain is associated with declining hormone levels.

Some women breeze through menopause like nothing even happened. Others suffer through and have a terrible time. Finally, it's so very important for you to understand that menopause is very natural. As you experience these symptoms remind yourself that your body is acting and reacting just as it was meant to act and react. With a healthy lifestyle, this can be a very active and beautiful new beginning.
